Bishkek, April 11, 2021 . / Kabar / . An epidemiological safety for voters and observers has been fully ensured at all 2,483 polling stations, Deputy Chairman of Kyrgyzstan’s Central Elections Commission Abdyzhapar Bekmatov said during a briefing Sunday.
He added that given the fact that the elections are held amid coronavirus pandemic, the CEC in cooperation with local authorities has organized a thorough sanitary and epidemiological security in order to ensure safety. At 2,483 polling stations, commissions and observers are fully provided with all protective equipment.
"The Elections Commission together with the Ministry of Health has developed an algorithm of actions at the polling stations. Upon entering each polling station, voters will have their temperature measured. Each voter will wear a mask. In case of symptoms presence voter will be asked to come after 6 p.m. In the previous parliamentary elections in October and the early presidential elections, all the epidemiological safety measures were observed. And in this elections, epidemiological security is organized at a high level," Bekmatov said.
In Kyrgyzstan, elections to local councils and a referendum on the draft of the new Constitution has begun on Sunday at 8:00 Bishkek time.
183 international observers and 11 Kyrgyz public organizations have been registered and about 179 foreign and local media will cover the election day.
Citizens will be issued two slips of paper in different colors and two biometric identification cards for voting in the local and referendum elections. Two different automated ballot boxes will also be installed.
