Ankara, Apr. 10, 2018 / Kabar /. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan assessed the existing Kyrgyz-Turkish relations and outlined the direction in which they intend to develop in the future.

"Relations with Kyrgyzstan are especially important for us, and in 1991 Turkey was the first to recognize Kyrgyzstan's independence." In 2011, the Council for Higher Strategic Cooperation was created, which gave strategic relations to bilateral relations," Erdogan said.

He said that Turkish businessmen invest in various sectors of the Kyrgyz economy. In the sphere of education, up to 3500 Kyrgyz students receive an opportunity every year to study at higher educational institutions in Turkey. Also, TIKA implements various projects on the territory of Kyrgyzstan.

"This close cooperation has weakened a little in 2015. But we intend to resume the work on strengthening our relations, and today's visit of Jeenbekov to Turkey fully confirms readiness for these actions," Erdogan said.

The President of Turkey made a special emphasis on the fact that further relations with Kyrgyzstan largely depend on the support of this republic in the fight against ill-wishers and the maintenance of the position of the Turkish side in this position.

"We discussed our relations in the economy, culture and other spheres, and also considered the political and military cooperation." Following the talks, we came to the conclusion that our cooperation in the economic sphere does not reveal the full potential, and in this regard, we need to take necessary measures to increase the trade turnover up to $ 1 billion," Erdogan said.

He also thanked Jeenbekov that he choose Turkey as one of the first countries for a foreign visit, after his election to the post of the president of Kyrgyzstan, and expressed his belief that during his work at the head of Kyrgyzstan the relations between the two republics will become even closer.
