Ethnic festival of Turkic peoples to be held in Osh

Osh, Feb. 20, 2019. /Kabar/. Osh Mayor Taalaibek Sarybashov met Secretary General TURKSOY Duysen Kaseinov, in which representative of the Kyrgyz Republic in TURKSOY Kojogeldi Kultegin and Deputy Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism Kairat Imanaliev took part.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the program of cultural events planned in the city within the framework of the fact that Osh had been declared the Cultural Center of the Turkic World in 2019, as well as public places where the main events will take place.

The mayor told that the start of events dedicated to the program “Osh – the Cultural Center of the Turkic World in 2019” is scheduled for April this year.

“During the planned cultural events in Osh, a significant number of events will be held throughout the year devoted to the Program “Osh – the Cultural Center of the Turkic World in 2019”. Among the planned activities are

- solemn opening ceremony "Osh– Cultural Center of the Turkic World in 2019";

- scientific-practical conference entitled "Osh on the Great Silk Road: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow";

- as well as international dance festivals, youth forums of the Turkic states, meetings of writers and akyns (improvising poets and singers) of the Turkic world, film weeks, international drawing competitions, fashion festivals, artists, artists' workshops, sculptors and many other various events with the participation of delegations, representatives of Turkic-speaking countries, music festivals and business forums, the festival of pilaf and theater festivals.

In addition, the Ethnofestival is planned to be held as part of the discussed action plan, which will demonstrate the ethnoculture of the Turkic peoples from ethnomusic and akyns to ethnotourism with exhibitions of national cultural peculiarities, rituals and traditions, features of national cuisine.

Particular attention will be paid to the historical and cultural heritage sites and attractions of the city, including sacred Sulaiman-Too, including celebration of the 10th anniversary of the entry of Sulaiman-Too in the UNESCO Cultural Heritage List.
