Bishkek, Dec. 26, 2019. /Kabar/. Nodira Dzhanibekova, Etnic Kyrgyz from the 74th Yangiyer county, Sirdarya Region has been elected Deputy of Legislative Chamber of Uzbekistan’s Oliy Majlis (Supreme Assembly). This information can be found on the website of the Uzbek Central Election Commission.
Currently, Dzhanibekova works as a senior lecturer at Gulistan State University, and is chairwoman of the Syrdarya Regional Kyrgyz National Cultural Center.
She is the first among ethnic Kyrgyz to become deputy in Uzbekistan. Three ethnic Kyrgyz candidates for the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis have been nominated in this election campaign.
Yesterday, Dec. 25 the Central Election Commission published the list of 125 elected deputies on the first ballot.
Note that on Dec. 22, elections to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and local Kengashes were held in Uzbekistan.
Five parties took part in the elections:
- Movement of entrepreneurs and business people - Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan (UzLiDeP);
- Democratic Party - Milliy Tiklanish;
- Social Democratic Party - "Adolat";
- People's Democratic Party of Uzbekistan (PDPU);
- Ecological party of Uzbekistan
According to the CEC, out of UzLiDeP's 43 candidates (34 percent of the votes) received parliamentary seats, Milliy Tiklanish - 35 (27 percent of the votes), Adolat party - 21 (16 percent), PDPU - 18 (14 percent) and Ecological party - 11 (9 percent).
In 25 constituencies there will be repeated votes. The Legislative Chamber of the Parliament consists of 150 deputies.
