Bishkek, Nov. 5, 2021 . / Kabar / . The Kyrgyz capital city of Bishkek hosted on Friday the First European Union-Central Asia Economic Forum.
President Sadyr Zhaparov delivered a welcoming speech at the plenary session of the major international event.
The Kyrgyz leader stressed that the main goal of the event is to expand economic ties between regions. Thus, the foundation of economic cooperation for years to come is laid, which gives this event a constructive impetus.
The Forum participants touched upon the transition to a green, sustainable, and climate-friendly economy, digitalization, and the creation of a healthy business environment.
During the thematic plenary sessions, delegates discussed in detail with representatives of Central Asian countries the current interaction with the EU, as well as new opportunities for economic cooperation, with a special focus on the main priorities.
Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Head of the Presidential Administration Akylbek Zhaparov, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin and other prime ministers and deputy heads of governments of Central Asian countries took part in the Forum.
The European Union was represented by Executive Vice President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis and other high-level representatives.
In addition, the event was attended by high-level representatives of EU member states, organizations implementing EU projects in the region, private sector representatives from Central Asia and Europe, and development partners, including European financial institutions.
