Brussels, Nov. 20, 2018. /Kabar/. The European Union reported on fundamental issues included in the new strategy of interaction with the countries of Central Asia. At a briefing in Brussels, EU Special Representative for Central Asia Peter Burian told that it is planned to focus on certain points in order to promote the interests and values of the EU, that is, human rights.
He explained that they will take into account the desire and interest of the Central Asian partners. Burian added that the EU will focus on a common approach to solving problems that are better resolved at the regional level. It is referred to interaction not only in the north and west, but also within the region.
Burian concluded by presenting his trip to Ashgabat as an example. He noted that many citizens of neighboring countries travel to the city through Dubai or Istanbul, despite the fact that they are neighbors. The EU Representative, stressing the current progress in Uzbekistan, further explained that much can be done to improve contacts between people, the exchange of goods, etc. This country has opened its borders. There is a visa-free regime with the neighboring countries. There is potential for the development of Central Asian trade. Despite the fact that this industry within Central Asia is at a quite low level.
