Eurasian Economic Commission, UN Stat Commission discuss issues of mutual interest

Bishkek, Jan.13, 2025. /Kabar/. Minister of Integration and Macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Eldar Alisherov held talks with Chairman of the UN Statistical Commission, Director General of the Swiss Federal Statistical Office Georges-Simon Ulrich.

The sides discussed a number of topical issues of mutual interest. In particular, they considered the prospects of expansion of the UN Statistical Commission, as well as the possibility of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states to join its expanded membership and the participation of the EEC as an observer, the press service of the EEC reported.

The UN Statistical Commission is the highest body of the global statistical system. It brings together the heads of statistical agencies of UN member states from all over the world.

The Commission is the main decision-making body in the field of international statistical activities, in particular with regard to statistical standards, the development of relevant concepts and methods and their implementation at national and international levels.
