Eurasian Economic Union needs dialogue with European business

Bishkek, Oct. 29, 2018. /Kabar/. Veronika Nikishina, Member of the Board, Minister for Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), urged to build a direct dialogue with business, including European, speaking as a guest of honor at the session on “Business without Borders between Europe and Asia”, held on October 26 in the framework of the 11th Eurasian Economic Forum in Verona (Italy), the EEC website wrote.

“We need to create, together with Brussels, a “road map” for fixing bottlenecks as soon as possible in order to level out possible difficulties for European business in the Eurasian Economic Union,” the EEC Minister said. “For this, an active dialogue is needed, both with business from EU countries and with EU institutions.”

The session was a continuation of the discussion held at the forum in the framework of the session on “Business Dialogue in Greater Eurasia” a day before.

The Commission carefully checks with the WTO regulations activities affecting the conditions of doing business in the EAEU. Noting concern for the WTO crisis, Veronika Nikishina stressed the need to work within the legal framework of this organization.

In developing new free trade agreements, the Commission seeks to incorporate the most advanced tools for the development of export activities. It is important that such agreements allow international companies operating in the countries of the Union to find new markets.

The Minister of the EEC said that interaction with business is conducted on an ongoing basis: “We have our own mechanism for business dialogue, in which all interested companies, including foreign ones, take part.”

The session participants discussed prospects for economic interaction from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean. The key speakers were President of Alstom Russia and the board member of the Association of European Businesses Philippe Pegorier and General Director of the Agency for Technological Development Yuri Abramov. The discussion was also attended by President-Director General of Vikat and Vice Chairman of the Franco-Kazakhstan Business Council MEDEF International Guy Sidos, Director General of IDEMIA and Chairman of the Council of Entrepreneurs of France-Uzbekistan, France-Tajikistan and France-Kyrgyzstan MEDEF International of Christof Fontaine, lawyer of the Weichai Group Eversheds Sutherland Candice Yang.
