He said that many international organizations assess the decline in the level of freedom of speech in Kyrgyzstan, relying on various indexes.
“But this is not like this. For example, today, during the consideration of the draft republican budget, which is important for our state, representatives of the media called one or another deputy and asked them any questions they were interested in. This does not happen in other countries. In Great Britain, which is considered the cradle of parliamentarism, the part of the hall where journalists sit is divided and closed by a glass window. Thus, journalists cannot call and ask questions to deputies during the meeting. Even when leaving, deputies do not meet with journalists, since deputies exit from one door, and journalists from another door. In this regard, it remains unclear why countries acting on this basis give us an assessment,” he said. At the same time, the speaker noted that freedom of speech is well developed not only in parliament, but also in the country as a whole, and called on journalists to express their opinion on this issue, according to the assessment of international organizations.
