Bishkek, Feb. 1, 2022. / Kabar /. The events on the prevention of extremism and terrorism were carried out in Issyk-Kul Oblast of Kyrgyzstan, the press service of the Department of Internal Affairs of the oblast said.
The events were held in order to prevent and combat religious extremism and terrorism.
Thus, employees of the Issyk-Kul Regional Department of Internal Affairs held meetings with heads of institutions, heads of rural districts, school directors and imam-khatibs of Ak-Suu region to identify extremist communities in Kyrgyzstan.
The security forces are trying to increase the intolerance of citizens towards extremist ideology, the formation of a negative attitude towards radical groups and movements.
In addition, the local population was explained the criminal liability for religious extremism and terrorism, as well as the specifics of the requirements of the legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic for citizens and adolescents.
During the meeting, it was noted that today in some villages of the region the issue of religious extremism is becoming one of the most urgent problems. Previously, the regional police department only persecuted Hizb ut-Tahrir, today other religious groups have been declared illegal in Kyrgyzstan. Of particular concern is the recent activation of the ideology of the Inkar-Yakyn religious movement in the region, the report said.
