Bishkek, Aug. 30, 2017. / Kabar /. The expert community of Kyrgyzstan and Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the Kyrgyz Republic Komil Rashidov discussed the issues of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan in solving border issues.
Tokon Mamytov, chairman of the People’s Assembly of Kyrgyzstan, said that the initiative to resolve the issues of the border areas of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan was raised by heads of both countries, and the resolution of this issue has a good perspective in the development of trade and economic relations between the states.
"Boundary issues were initiated by both the Uzbek and Kyrgyz sides even earlier, before the signing of the interim agreement, but due to the fact that political decisions on this issue were not taken, it was delayed. The ice broke up after the visit of the head of our state to Samarkand in 2016, then after the meeting of the presidents in Astana at the SCO summit, where they discussed the bringing bilateral relations to a qualitative new level and the political decision of the states allowed them to sign an interim agreement," said Mamytov .
He said that with the further development of bilateral relations, it is necessary to work in the following areas: the development of trade and economic relations, the improvement of trade and border crossing points, and joint work to ensure security against the terrorist threat.
Recall that since August 2016, the Kyrgyz and Uzbek sides held 15 meetings to discuss issues on the delimitation and demarcation of the state border.
