The extension of the state of emergency is necessary to ensure adequate security of citizens, First Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Kubatbek Boronov said at a meeting of the Republican Headquarters for Preventing Import and Further Spread of Coronavirus Infection.

According to the Government’s press service, the meeting participants discussed the current situation on coronavirus infection. Representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Health reported on the work carried out.

The Health Ministry was assigned to strengthen the work on training of medical workers on the rules of use of personal protective equipment, rules of its wearing and removal.

"Today, we have over 70 cases of coronavirus infection among medical workers. The Republican Headquarters keeps the issue of providing medics with personal protective equipment under constant control. The Ministry of Health has been instructed to train physicians in the proper use of protective equipment and to improve safety. Also, the ministry must constantly replenish the stock of protective equipment and test systems," Boronov said.

Local authorities have been instructed to improve social and living conditions of medical personnel working in focus of infection.

They have also been instructed to regulate the provision of hot meals to them.

In addition, during the meeting, relevant state bodies have been entrusted to intensify consideration of the purchase of ventilators.

To date, 11 more cases of novel coronavirus have been revealed in Kyrgyzstan, bringing the total to 430.

Of those, 71 people have recovered and discharged from hospitals. Five have died.

First case of COVID-19 in Kyrgyzstan was registered on March 18.

First Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic, Head of the Republican Headquarters for Preventing Import and Further Spread of Coronavirus Infection Kubatbek Boronov was received Monday by President Sooronbay Jeenbekov.

He proposed to the Kyrgyz leader to consider the possibility of extending the emergency and state of emergency in certain cities and regions, based on the analysis of medical specialists.

From March 25 to April 15, a state of emergency is in force in the cities of Bishkek, Osh and Dzhalal-Abad, Nookat and Kara-Suu regions of Osh Oblast and in Suzak region of Dzhalal-Abad Oblast.

Movement for all citizens, except for those who are issued with a pass, namely internal affairs officers and medical and civil servants, is limited between 8:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. (night time). A curfew is established.
