Extraordinary meeting of Coordinating Council for Cooperation with EU held in Bishkek

Bishkek, Apr. 4, 2018 / Kabar /. The extraordinary 5th meeting of the Coordination Council for Cooperation with the European Union was held under the chairmanship of Foreign Minister Erlan Abdyldaev and with the participation of Council members and representatives of ministries and departments of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported that the meeting was held in preparation for the working visit of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov to the Kingdom of Belgium to the EU institutions (April 11-12, 2018)

The meeting participants heard the information on the implementation of EU programs and projects for 2018, existing problems and ways to address them. The Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Labor and Social Development, the Ministry of Economy, the State Committee on Information Technologies and Communications made reports.

The Coordination Council paid special attention to strengthening interdepartmental cooperation and cooperation with the EU in order to effectively implement the EU programs and projects in Kyrgyzstan. The issue of the preparations for the 3rd round of negotiations on the development of a new Agreement on enhanced partnership and cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the EU is also considered.

Following the meeting of the Coordination Council, joint measures have been identified with regard to the timely ratification of agreements with the EU on financial assistance to the Kyrgyz Republic, on rule of law programs and integrated development of rural regions, promotion of exports of goods under the GSP + status and the intensification of the negotiation process for the draft new Agreement between Kyrgyzstan and the EU.
