Bishkek, Apr. 10, 2020. /Kabar/. Today Apr.10 President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov participated in an extraordinary meeting of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States (CCTS), which was held under the chairmanship of Azerbaijan in the format of videoconference.
At the meeting, heads of CCTS member states discussed measures to consolidate the efforts of Turkic speaking countries in combating the spread of coronavirus infection and its consequences.
Leaders of the Cooperation Council states talked about measures taken in the fight against coronavirus infection at the national level, exchanged views on ways to overcome its negative impact on the economies of the countries, implementation of joint measures in trade and economic sphere in the post-pandemic period, deepening cooperation in the field of health care.
Expressing solidarity in the fight against coronavirus infection, they outlined joint plans for the future.
In his speech, Kyrgyz President Jeenbekov also noted the importance of taking coordinated actions and mutual support in the current situation.
The extraordinary meeting resulted in the adoption of the Final Declaration.
Presidents of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, as well as Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban, Secretary General of the Turkic Council Baghdad Amreyev and Director-General of the World Health Organization, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus took part in the meeting in the format of videoconference.
The CCTS resumed its work after a three-year break at the Summit in Cholpon-Ata town (Issyk-Kul Oblast of Kyrgyzstan), which was held under the chairmanship of Kyrgyzstan on Sep. 3, 2018.
Further, the CCTS Summit took place in October 2019 in the capital city of Azerbaijan Baku, where the chairmanship in the Council passed from Kyrgyzstan to Azerbaijan.
