Bishkek, Oct. 25, 2018. /Kabar/. A study showed that those convicted of extremism were subjected to domestic violence in childhood. Head of the Legal Support Department of the State Service of Execution of Punishment of the Kyrgyz Republic Ayvaz Kadyrov told at the Central Asian Dialogue on Effective Prison Management of Violent Extremist and Terrorist Offenders.

He said that the staff of the institution together with the "Yiman" Spiritual Culture Development Foundation and with psychiatrists conducted field research to find out when the convict came to the ideas of radicalism and extremism.

“The study showed that all those convicted of extremism in their childhood were subjected to domestic violence and other forms of family violence. According to the results of the study, special questions were developed for convicts who arrived for the assessment of the degree of human radicalization. In 2016, amendments were introduced regarding the accommodation for convicts for extremism and radicalism, they are kept in isolation from other convicts to prevent the spread of ideas of extremism,” Kadyrov said.
