Bishkek, Jan. 31, 2024. /Kabar/. The Chinese Embassy in Kyrgyzstan organized a fair and lantern festival at Bishkek State University (BSU) on the occasion of the Chinese New Year - Spring Festival.
The event was attended by Ambassador of China to Kyrgyzstan Du Dewen, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Edil Baisalov, Deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh Iskhak Masaliev, Rector of BSU Abdylda Musaev, as well as guests from China.
The event included a fair and concert program.
During the event, the Chinese ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic noted that she highly values friendly relations with Kyrgyzstan. She emphasized that there is great potential for introducing students to Chinese culture and language.
Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Edil Baisalov congratulating on the upcoming New Year said thatKyrgyzstan is connected with great China by a centuries-old history and culture that stretches back to the times of the ancient Silk Road. “Every year our friendly relations are becoming stronger and stronger and I would like to note that in 2023, cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and China was intense and rich in good events,” he noted.
Chinese New Year (Spring Festival) has long been the main and longest holiday in China and other East Asian countries. The traditional New Year is timed to coincide with the winter new moon at the end of the full lunar cycle that took place after the winter solstice. In the Gregorian calendar, this corresponds to one of the days between January 21 and February 21.
