FAO Representative in Kyrgyzstan Adnan Quereshi dies in Bishkek

Bishkek, Jan. 19, 2022. / Kabar /. Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Kyrgyzstan, Adnan Quereshi, died at the age of 60, the Organization reported.

Appointed to the post of FAO Representative in Kyrgyzstan in summer of 2020, Adnan Quereshi has become an indispensable member of the UN country team, the closest partner for many representatives of government institutions and departments, international partners and donors.

Born in the UK, Adnan Quereshi has devoted most of his professional life to work at the UN FAO, where he managed to prove himself as an excellent professional and dedicated employee.

Adnan Quereshi joined FAO in 1995 in Rome as a Program and Budget Specialist, where he also served as Secretary of the FAO Program Committee. From 2009 to 2017, he gained field experience as a Senior Administrative Officer for Asia and the Pacific at the Organization's Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific in Bangkok. Later, he served as Acting FAO Representative in Mongolia, where he improved the performance of the Representation and expanded the range of projects, gaining experience that would benefit him in his future work.

In addition to all these responsibilities, he has also been an active facilitator of FAO's structures and governing bodies at country, regional and global levels.

And before joining the UN, Quereshi gained extensive professional experience in auditing and finance, having worked for nearly a decade in private companies and financial institutions.

Adnan Quereshi fell in love with the nature and people of Kyrgyzstan at first sight and was glad to serve in this country for the benefit of the people.

He died on January 17, 2022 due to heart failure. The body will be handed over to the relatives and buried in the homeland, the report said.
