Bishkek, Sept. 28, 2021 . / Kabar /. In the course of the meeting on Tuesday, deputies of the Bishkek City Council supported a draft resolution to increase the fare on public transport in the capital.

The prices are decided to raise depending on the engine volume of transport.

Thus, fare on trolley buses and buses with engine capacity over 3 thousand cubic meters regardless of ownership will cost KGS 11 (earlier KGS 8), buses with engine capacity less than 3 thousand cubic meters – KGS 15 (earlier KGS 10).

The decree will come into force on Nov. 1, 2021.

Drivers of the capital’s public transport struck in June 2021. They demanded to increase fares on public transport.

In Bishkek, transport services are provided by 42 transport companies, which operate about three thousand minibuses. The fare in "minibuses" is KGS 10 in the daytime and KGS 12 after 9 p.m. Representatives of transport companies and drivers themselves say that these tariffs do not cover the cost of fuel and depreciation.

The previous strike of minibus drivers took place in January of this year.
