Tashkent, May 24, 2021 . / Kabar / . Uzbekistan’s Namangan city hosted an opening ceremony of the international festival of flowers "Flowers Festival-2021", correspondent of Kabar News Agency reported from the venue.
In his welcoming speech, Head of Namangan Region Shavkat Abdurazakov noted that this festival, which this year celebrates its 60th anniversary, is of great importance for the region.
"First of all, it supports entrepreneurship in the region. Thousands of people work in flower farms alone and thereby feed their families. In addition, it is very useful for the development of tourism in the country. Yes, these are difficult times because of the pandemic, but, as our president said, we must learn to live under such conditions, and I think this is a good example of such a life," Abdurazakov stressed.
Local floral entrepreneurs and amateur florists participate in the event. This year, for the first time in the history of the festival, 10 million flower seedlings are expected to be planted. The event will also include exhibitions, fashion shows, craft fairs, gala concert in the "Valley of Legends" park and others.
The festival is attended by guests from China, South Korea, Russia, Turkey, Pakistan, the Netherlands, and Kyrgyzstan.
It has been held since 1961, is this year's anniversary. The event will last until May 31.
