Bishkek, April 9, 2021. / Kabar /. On April 8, President of the Kyrgyz Football Union (KFU), Kanatbek Mamatov, met with FIFA President Gianni Infantino in the capital of Bahrain, Manama.
According to the press service of the KFU, during the meeting the sides discussed the development of football and improvement of infrastructure in Kyrgyzstan. In particular, the issue of building a football center in Bishkek, if the government allocates land to the football union.
FIFA has expressed its willingness to consider funding this project as part of its association support program. The FIFA president inquired about the degree of openness of Kyrgyzstan to investors for the construction of a football infrastructure, as well as the conditions and benefits that can be provided to investors.
Mamatov invited Infantino to visit Kyrgyzstan, stressing that this year Kyrgyz football celebrates its centenary.
In turn, Gianni Infantino expressed his intention to visit Kyrgyzstan in September this year, if the situation with COVID-19 does not become more complicated.
The sides also agreed to hold a football match with the participation of football legends in honor of the centenary of Kyrgyz football in case of stabilization of the situation with COVID-19. This would become a bright and significant event in the life of football and all fans of the Kyrgyz Republic, the report said.
