Fighters of the invisible front: How volunteers were congratulated on Volunteer Day in Bishkek

Bishkek, Dec. 5, 2018. /Kabar/. The International Volunteer Day is being celebrated in Bishkek today, on the occasion of which a solemn event was held at the National Philharmonic Hall, the press service of the Red Crescent of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

Deputy Director of the State Agency for Youth, Physical Culture and Sports Mirlan Parkhanov, President of the Red Crescent of the Kyrgyz Republic Azamat Bayalinov and Head of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Ms. Yukie Mokuo came to congratulate volunteers.

About 30 children, who actively showed themselves this year, were awarded valuable prizes in the framework of the nomination “Volunteer of the Year”.

In addition, a festive concert was arranged for them.

Volunteer organizations had prepared and presented their activities for young people.

The celebration was organized by the joint efforts of the Red Crescent of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Club-25 Kyrgyzstan volunteer association, the United Nations Children's Fund - UNICEF, KOICA, Peace Corps Kyrgyz Republic, Nomad Sport, Y-Peer, Aiesec Kyrgyzstan, IDEA CA, UNV, UNDP, SIDOK, Flex Kyrgyzstan and School Volunteer.

The International Volunteer Day has been celebrated annually since 1985.

Volunteering is based on voluntariness, compassion, solidarity with the needs and ideas of others, as well as deep respect for all people. Young people, adults, devote their free time to community affairs, participating in all sorts of actions, social assistance programs, and cultural education.
