Bishkek, Nov. 12, 2018. /Kabar/. Kazakhstani film “Ayka”, directed by Sergey Dvortsevoy about a migrant from Kyrgyzstan, won the Grand Prix at the 28th International Film Festival in Germany. The film festival was held in the German city of Cottbus, Khabar 24 reported.
In total, 190 films from 40 countries competed for the main award on this platform.
In addition to the grand prix, “Ayka” received a jury award. During the festival, two screenings were held. The film was brought to Germany by director Sergey Dvortsevoy.
The film “Ayka” tells the story of a young emigrant from Kyrgyzstan who works illegally in Moscow. After an unwanted pregnancy, she leaves the baby right in the maternity hospital. But over time, maternal feelings take over, and Ayka begins a desperate search for her abandoned son.
