Film by Kyrgyz director wins silver prize at New York IFF

Bishkek, Feb. 24, 2022 . / Kabar /. A film of Kyrgyz director Aman Azhymat Ukoi won the silver prize at the International Film Festival in New York, the Fund for Development of Cinematography in Kyrgyzstan said.

An award ceremony for the 4th annual festival Meihodo of the IFF Youth Visual Media was held on Tuesday in New York.

"The Meihodo International Youth Visual Media Film Festival addresses young and emerging filmmakers. It is one of the largest short film festivals in the world, and this year, for the first time, the global film festival awarded the winners of the NFT with cryptocurrency," the report says.

The short feature film Ukoi by young Kyrgyz director Aman Azhymat won the Silver Prize.

A grandmother of 16-year-old Ukoi, whose parents work as migrants in Russia, marries her off to a guy against her will after she becomes pregnant. Ukoi thinks all the difficulties are happening in her dreams, so she tries to wake up.
