Finland intends to intensify trade relations with Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Sept. 24, 2021 . / Kabar / . New York hosted on Thursday a meeting of Foreign Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Ruslan Kazakabaev and Finland Pekka Haavisto.

The press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry said that Ruslan Kazakbaev delivered a message of gratitude on behalf of Kyrgyz leader Sadyr Zhaparov to Finnish President Sauli Niinistö on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the independence of Kyrgyzstan.

The foreign ministers of the two countries discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation.

In particular, Haavisto noted the expediency of intensifying trade relations between the countries. In this context, the Kyrgyz foreign minister invited a high-level Finnish delegation to take part in the First EU-CA Economic Forum scheduled for Nov. 5, 2021.

Ruslan Kazakbaev, noting the importance of expanding the legal and contractual framework between the countries, passed a number of draft agreements for consideration by the Finnish side.

An agreement was reached to maintain constant contact to exchange views on the situation in Afghanistan. In this context, a project to host Afghan students at the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan was submitted to the Finnish side for consideration.

The sides also exchanged invitations for official visits.
