First ‘Central Asia-European Union’ Economic Forum to be held in Bishkek

Bishkek, Jan. 25, 2021. /Kabar/. Acting Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Ravshan Sabirov held a meeting on the preparation and holding of the First Economic Forum "Central Asia-European Union" in Bishkek this year, the press service of the Kyrgyz Government reported on Monday.

According to Sabirov, the initiative of the Kyrgyz side to open a new platform for partnership in the green economy between the EU and Central Asian states was supported by all parties.

"The first meeting of the EU-CA economic forum is expected to be held in July 2021 with the participation of prime ministers of Central Asian states, the leadership of the European institutions, a number of other leaders of EU member states, as well as business representatives of Central Asian states and the EU. The forum will pay special attention to the promotion of innovative, energy- and resource-saving projects of cross-border nature in the framework of partnership in the promotion of green economy.

We believe that the EU-CA economic platform reflects and unites economic interests of the member states. In this regard, the Kyrgyz Republic has put forward an initiative of the Secretariat of representatives of member states as a single governing body for cooperation with headquarters in Bishkek," the deputy PM noted.

The forums will be held on a rotating basis in different countries of Central Asia. In order to hold the First EU-CA Economic Forum in Bishkek, Ravshan Sabirov instructed to create an Organizing Committee for its preparation and holding at a high level.
