Bishkek, Nov. 6, 2024. / Kabar/. At the 17th Meeting of the Central Asia-Republic of Korea Cooperation Forum, held on November 4 in Seoul, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Asein Isaev met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, Cho Tae-yul.
During the meeting with the South Korean Foreign Minister, the Kyrgyz side highlighted the importance of strengthening regular political contacts between the two countries, enhancing the legal framework, and fostering cooperation across all areas of bilateral relations, particularly in trade, economic, and investment relations.
In turn, Minister Cho Tae-yul affirmed that the Republic of Korea views itself as a reliable and long-term partner for the Kyrgyz Republic and will continue to strengthen cooperation both bilaterally and within the framework of regional interaction.
The parties exchanged views on issues on the international agenda and expressed their willingness to assist on issues of mutual interest. In particular, they discussed in detail the possibility of signing a Framework Agreement with the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF), aimed at financing projects in the field of digitalization, healthcare, energy, etc.
On the same day, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, A. Isaev, held talks with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, Kim Hong Kyun. During the discussions, the Kyrgyz side expressed interest in involving South Korean companies in joint initiatives related to the exploration and extraction of mineral and critical metals, and noted the potential for cooperation in the areas of energy, transportation, and tourism.
Following the talks, both sides agreed on the need to elevate bilateral relations to a qualitatively new level through high-level visits in the near future.
