Osh, Nov. 30, 2020. /Kabar/. Kyrgyz and Russian surgeons jointly performed the first unique for Kyrgyzstan cardiac valve replacement surgery in Osh Oblast United Clinical Hospital.

Since a patient's old age and indicators did not allow for open cavity surgery, cardiac surgeons led by Novosibirsk physician Oleg Krestyaninov (Meshalkin National Medical Research Center), together with their Russian and Osh specialists performed a transcatheter implantation of an aortic valve for an 86-year-old resident of Osh Oblast.

According to Deputy Director for Clinical Care Kanatbek Ashirov, cooperation with Novosibirsk colleagues has been lasting for about three years, during which there is an exchange of experience between local and foreign specialists, who periodically come to Osh to help Kyrgyz colleagues.

"What happened today can be compared to human space exploration," the doctor said, emphasizing the complexity of the operation.
