First Kyrgyz-Armenian political consultations held

Bishkek, June 19, 2020. /Kabar/. The first Kyrgyz-Armenian political consultations at the level of deputy foreign ministers by videoconference were held Friday.

According to the press service of Kyrgyzstan’s Foreign Ministry, the Kyrgyz side was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Azizbek Madmarov, and the Armenian delegation - by Deputy FM Shavarsh Kocharyan.

A wide range of issues, including the current state and prospects of expanding cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Armenia in political, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres were discussed during the inter-ministerial consultations.

In particular, the sides expressed hope that the first session of the Joint Inter-Governmental Commission on Trade-Economic, Scientific-Technical and Cultural-Humanitarian cooperation will be held as soon as possible.

The parties also stressed the need to further strengthen inter-parliamentary relations, as well as permanent contacts at various levels between the two countries.

In addition, the two foreign ministers exchanged views on further steps of bilateral interaction within the framework of international and regional organizations, particularly the UN, EAEU (Eurasian Economic Union), CSTO (Collective Security Treaty Organization), CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) and others.

An agreement on further coordination of efforts in counteracting COVID-19 was reached.

Following the consultations, the sides expressed hope for further intensification of the entire complex of bilateral relations.
