First meeting of Council of Heads of Border Regions of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan will be held

Bishkek, March 28, 2018. / Kabar / . Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Sapar Isakov will take part in the first meeting of the Council of the Heads of the Border Regions of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Uzbekistan on March 29. The Uzbek delegation will be headed by Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, the Kyrgyz Government’s press service reported.

The Council was established in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding between the Governments of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan on the establishment of the Council of Plenipotentiary Representatives of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic in the border areas and hokims of the border regions of Uzbekistan, signed in Bishkek during the state visit of Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on September 5-6, to develop contacts at the interregional level and expand cooperation between the border regions of the two countries.

During the meeting of the first Council, it is planned to discuss issues of development of trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian cooperation between the regions of the two countries.

The Kyrgyz delegation includes heads of ministries and departments, plenipotentiary representatives of the government in Batken, Jalal-Abad and Osh oblasts, as well as heads of territorial agencies of border regions.
