First meeting of leaders of Central Asia and European Union takes place in Astana

Bishkek, Oct. 27, 2022. /Kabar/. The first meeting of the leaders of Central Asia - the European Union took place in Astana (Kazakhstan).

The event began with a welcoming ceremony and joint photographing of the leaders of the countries and heads of delegations of Central Asia and the President of the European Council.

In his speech, President Sadyr Zhaparov noted that Kyrgyzstan sees significant potential in interregional cooperation, welcoming the emergence of a new six-party format at the highest level.

The meeting was attended by Presidents of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov, Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan Khodjamurad Geldymuradov, President of the European Council Charles Michel.

Following the meeting, a joint statement for the media was signed.
