First online youth chess championship held in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Dec.24, 2024. /Kabar/. DiGi Company and the Kyrgyz Chess Union (KCU) held a youth online chess championship of Kyrgyzstan - 2024 among schoolchildren. This was reported in the company.

DiGi reported that the tournament was held on the official FIDE platform www.chessarena.com. Semifinals were held on Dec.21, and finals - on Dec. 23.

The championship gathered more than 500 participants from all over the country, including remote regions.

This is the first event of this scale in the history of Kyrgyzstan held entirely online.

“To ensure fair play, video broadcasting was used,” the report said.

The championship prize fund amounted to KGS 70,000. The winners in each age category received diplomas and cash prizes.

The organizers stressed that the online format is not a replacement for traditional tournaments, but their supplement, creating new opportunities:

● Equal chances for all children.
