Bishkek, March 4, 2022 . / Kabar /. Phase 1 of the project "Development of the street and road network" at the expense of a grant from the People's Republic of China has been officially completed in Bishkek, the press service of the capital’s Mayor’s Office reported.
A ceremony of signing the act of transfer and acceptance of the project was held on Friday.
Minister of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan Daniyar Amangeldiev, Ambassador of China to Kyrgyzstan Du Dewen and Mayor of Bishkek Emilbek Abdykadyrov took part in the event.
"The Bishkek mayor thanked the Government of China, the Chinese Embassy in Kyrgyzstan for their invaluable contribution to the development of the city, in particular for the projects concerning each citizen, and also expressed hope for further mutually beneficial cooperation," the report reads.
In turn, Du Dewen congratulated the participants of the ceremony and all Bishkek residents on the successful completion of another mission, and noted the importance of strengthening and achieving fruitful results of friendly cooperation.
The first phase of road construction at the expense of the PRC began in September 2016, during which 49 streets with a length of 95 km were tidied, including the construction of 180 km of sidewalks, and irrigation networks were renewed.
In addition, six bridges and one overpass were built.
At the moment the implementation of the second phase of the project resumed in the capital after the winter pause, the preparatory work is going on 24 sections of streets.
