Bishkek, April 11, 2021 . / Kabar /. Overseas referendum voting is taking place at 48 polling stations.
The press service of the Kyrgyz Central Elections Commission reported that as of today, the list of participants of the referendum voting abroad includes 58 598 citizens, which is almost 10 thousand citizens more compared to the final list of participants of the referendum voting abroad on Jan. 10, 2021. (49 479).
The first polling station was opened in Russia’s Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk at 3:00 a.m. Bishkek time. At the beginning of voting in Kyrgyzstan, voting was already taking place in 11 cities of 5 countries.
The polling station in the USA will be the last to start working. It will open at 7:00 p.m. Bishkek time and close tomorrow at 7:00 a.m.
In Kyrgyzstan, elections to local councils and a referendum on the draft of the new Constitution has begun on Sunday at 8:00 a.m. Bishkek time.
Elections to local councils will be held in 448 towns and villages at 2,273 polling stations.
Meanwhile, Kyrgyzstanis abroad will not be able to vote for local council elections.
As for the referendum, over 30% of the total number of voters must vote in order to recognize it valid.
A referendum to determine the form of government in Kyrgyzstan was held on Jan. 10 of this year, along with the early presidential elections. Then the presidential form of government was supported by 81.49 percent of voters. After that, a constitutional counsel was created, which developed a new draft of the Constitution.
