First SCO media summit held in Beijing

Bishkek, June 2, 2018. / Kabar /. The first media summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is held on Friday in the Chinese capital.

At the opening ceremony of the event, organized by the Press Office of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, head of the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee Huang Kunming read out a congratulatory letter from President Xi Jinping and delivered a speech.

At the summit on theme of "carrying on the 'Shanghai Spirit' and ushering a new era for media cooperation," an initiative was put forward to strengthen cooperation and exchange between the media, and a number of agreements and memorandums were signed. More than 260 officials from the SCO media departments and representatives of the leading media attended the opening of the summit.

Kyrgyzstan was represented at the media summit by Deputy Minister of Culture Ainura Temirbekova, Director of Kabar News Agency Kubanychbek Taabaldiev, Director General of ElTR TV Aibek Musayev, Director General of NTS TV company Zhainak Usen uulu.

The participants of the media summit adopted an appeal to the heads of the SCO countries, who will meet for a regular summit in Qingdao on June 8, in which President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbai Jeenbekov will take part. The Kyrgyz President on the eve of the summit will pay an official visit to China and hold talks with Chairman Xi Jinping.
