Bishkek, Aug. 21, 2017 /Kabar /. The Osh Fest-2017 tourist festival was held for the first time in southern capital of Kyrgyzstan. The caravan of the Silk Road with camels, trumpeters and colorful goods passed through the ancient city of Osh, thus marking the beginning of the first annual festival of tourism "Osh Fest-2017," the correspondent of Kabar Agency reported.
During the event, the participants got acquainted with the exhibition of national and applied art, cooking, a demonstration of the national customs and traditions of the Kyrgyz people, which had been preserved for centuries in people's memory, was organized. The program of the Festival included national music, dances, songs, master classes in crafts also culinary shows on cooking traditional local dishes of Osh city. A few centuries ago the ancient city of Osh was a connecting thread between the east and the west, served as a staging post for the caravans after a hard descent from the heavenly high mountains of the Pamirs on its way from China to the Roman Empire. The crowded trading city has always been filled with bright colors of oriental goods, spices, and people of different cultures and backgrounds. The main goal of this festival of tourism is to attract attention and assist in the promotion of Osh's destination, including a diverse range of tourism products offered in the region. Moreover, the event will contribute to the awareness of its origins and cultural heritage, among the young generation now living in Osh. Organizers of the festival "Osh Fest-2017" is the Osh Destination and Osh Mayor’s Office with the support of the USAID Business Development Initiative.
