First UN flight with aid to Afghanistan arrives in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Oct. 15, 2021 . / Kabar / . The first plane with humanitarian aid of the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) for Afghanistan on the board arrived in the city of Termez in southern Uzbekistan on Friday, the press service of this international organization in Uzbekistan said.

The plane arrived from the UN Logistics Center in Dubai. The total volume of the first cargo is 32 tons of basic necessities.

Earlier it was reported that in the near future UNHCR plans to send three planes with humanitarian aid to Afghanistan through Termez. Later, the Termez Cargo Centre reported that the first plane would arrive in Termez on Oct. 15, and the next two on Oct. 16-17.

The logistics center will distribute the humanitarian aid on trucks and from there deliver it to Afghanistan's Mazar-e-Sharif through the Termez-Hayraton border checkpoint.

Since the beginning of October, the Termez logistics center has already sent about 40 carloads of food to Afghanistan under the UN World Food Program.
