First World Cup among club teams in kok-boru opened in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Aug. 14, 2023. /Kabar/. President Sadyr Zhaparov solemnly opened the First World Cup among club teams in kok-boru 2023, which started in the village of Baktuu-Dolonotu, Issyk-Kul region on Sunday.

In his speech, welcoming the guests to the Kyrgyz land, the head of state noted with great satisfaction that today is a special day for sports lovers, when on the shores of the beautiful pearl of Kyrgyzstan, everyone is witnessing the best game with the participation of jigits from a number of countries who compete in kok boru and fighting for honor.

Sadyr Zhaparov emphasized that the ancestors of the Kyrgyz, together with nature, like paradise, bequeathed national games and values that preserved the nation as a nation.

The head of state stressed that thanks to the generation that has preserved the traditions and covenants of their ancestors, Kyrgyzstan has not lost its independence, statehood, values, national traditions, having glorified its national games like kok boru all over the world, and even today holds a major international event.

Sadyr Zhaparov emphasized that due to the fact that the Kyrgyz people survived as a nation with their values, customs and traditions, national games were passed down from generation to generation, becoming an eternal treasure. The Kyrgyz national games, which have been played since time immemorial, have not lost their deep meaning and relevance today.

The president noted thatkok boru is one of the oldest national games of the Kyrgyz, which is popularly called the game of the most courageous horsemen. The game of Kok Boru teaches young people to work as a team, make quick decisions when necessary, and be patient.

Taking the opportunity, Sadyr Zhaparov expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributes to the wide dissemination of this game, as well as to its fans.

The head of state recalled that the game of kok boru was included in the program of the World Nomad Games, confirming that this is an international level sport, and the geography of the game has expanded.

He expressed confidence that the tournament will give an unforgettable atmosphere to all guests and makes a great contribution to strengthening interethnic harmony.

Sadyr Zhaparov wished the participants of the international competition to show their strength, excellent skills in a brave game, to succeed and go through the games without injury.

The international kok-boru tournament will be held from 13 to 20 August.
