Fish production in Kyrgyzstan increases this year by 145%

Bishkek, Sept. 8, 2022. / Kabar /. This year, fish production in Kyrgyzstan has increased by 145%, the country’s Ministry of Agriculture said.

According to data, 20.7 million pieces of juvenile whitefish, carp and Issyk-Kul trout were released into the state fishery reservoirs of the Kyrgyz Republic, which is 163.05% more compared to 8 months of 2021.

For the first time, 400 thousand peled fry were brought to Son-Kul Lake from the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk of Kazakhstan.

For the first time in 30 years, 4 million silver carp larvae have been brought and released into the Toktogul reservoir.

The ministry added that for 8 months of 2022, the production of marketable fish by economic entities, individuals and legal entities that have contractual relations with the Department of Fisheries, amounted to 8974.1 tons, which is 145% more compared to 8 months of 2021.

In addition, for the same period, the export of fish products amounted to 2091.1 tons, which is 109% more compared to 8 months of 2021. And the production of fish feed in the republic since the beginning of the year amounted to 310 tons.
