Bishkek, July 30, 2021 . / Kabar / . Five cases of human trafficking have been registered in Kyrgyzstan since the beginning of 2021, head of the Department of Criminal Police Service of the Interior Ministry of the republic Marlis Dzhumabayev told at a press conference at Kabar News Agency.
He added that pre-trial proceedings are underway on four facts, on one fact the case was terminated for lack of corpus delicti.
"In 2020, 15 facts of human trafficking were registered in the republic, of which 7 criminal cases were sent to court and are being considered by the courts. For the rest, the proceedings are continuing," Dzhumabayev said.
"Often there are objective and subjective factors when victims of human trafficking apply. Objective factors may include distrust of law enforcement agencies and organizations, and subjective factors may include personal fear, bashfulness of a citizen so that it does not get a public resonance. Because of such factors our citizens often try to distance themselves from law enforcement agencies and this category of crimes goes to the category of latent crimes. This is a category of crimes not registered by law enforcement bodies," Dzhumabayev said.
He also noted that Kyrgyz citizens most often become victims of labor slavery in Kazakhstan and Russia.
