Flights to Kazakhstan operated 2 times a week, land border still closed

Bishkek, Oct. 2, 2020 / Kabar /. Director of the Civil Aviation Agency of the Kyrgyz Republic Kurmanbek Akyshev during a press conference at Kabar News Agency spoke about the resumption of regular flights with Kazakhstan.

He said that within the framework of agreements between the aviation authorities of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, regular flights between the two countries were resumed from Sept. 20. The flight Almaty - Bishkek - Almaty is operated by Air Astana twice a week.

“I would like to note that the land Kyrgyz-Kazakh border remains closed. The neighboring republic has opened its borders only for air traffic,” he said.

To date, Kyrgyzstan has opened the border for citizens of 32 countries, which are included in the list of states with a stable epidemiological situation. In turn, regular flights have been resumed with Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Russia and Kazakhstan.

Kyrgyzstan canceled all international and domestic flights since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in March and resumed domestic flights on June 5.
