Bishkek, Oct.25, 2019. /Kabar/. On Oct. 24, 2019 Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Chingiz Aidarbekov met with Japan’s Justice Minister Katsuyuki Kawai, the press service of the Foreign Ministry reported.
The sides discussed the prospects of attracting Kyrgyz citizens to work in Japan. FM Aidarbekov told about the potential of Kyrgyzstan to train qualified personnel to work in Japanese companies.
He mentioned that the Immigration Control and Refugees Recognition Act had been amended in December 2018, according to which since Apr. 1, 2019 Japan had introduced “Specified Skills 1” and “Specified Skills 2” two new categories. He said the Kyrgyz side is already working to train personnel who meet the requirements for the issuance of the above categories of visas.
At the same time, the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Japan is carrying out extensive work to disseminate information on the labor reserves of the Kyrgyz Republic among Japanese companies.
Minister Aidarbekov also asked about the plans of the Japanese side regarding the terms and conditions of introduction of new visa categories for citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Justice Minister Katsuyuki Kawai confirmed these categories of visas have been introduced on Apr. 1, 2019. He said according to the new rules, issuance of 345,150 visas is planned within 5 years for work in such areas as construction, services, car maintenance, etc.
Following the meeting, the sides agreed to continue consultations at the working level.
