Bishkek, Oct. 7, 2020 / Kabar /. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Chingiz Aidarbekov met with UN Resident Coordinator in the Kyrgyz Republic Ozonnia Ozhielo, who initiated the meeting, the press service of the ministry reported.
Ozonnia Ozhielo said that the UN expressed concern about the current situation in the Kyrgyz Republic. He also noted that the position of the Organization is clearly reflected in the statement of the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, which was published on Oct. 6, 2020. The resident coordinator stated that the Organization remains in full solidarity with Kyrgyzstan. The high-ranking representative expressed concern about the ongoing processes in the country. Particular attention was paid to attacks by unknown persons on objects of foreign investors.
The UN Resident Coordinator stressed that it is important for Kyrgyzstan to return to the legal field as soon as possible through a broad political dialogue between national political forces in compliance with the requirements of the Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic. Ozhielo said that, if required, the UN is ready to provide its platform for such a dialogue between the president, the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic and political forces.
Minister Aidarbekov thanked the UN system for the continued support of the Kyrgyz Republic in development issues.
He noted that at the moment the efforts of all political forces in the country are aimed at resolving the current situation strictly in the legal field. He said that President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov also officially expressed his readiness to support these negotiations. At the same time, the minister expressed the hope that an early way out of the situation would allow the government to focus on a number of problems, including the urgent task of combating the COVID-19 pandemic, holding new parliamentary elections and ensuring the country's socio-economic development.
In this regard, they expressed hope for the support of the UN.
