Bishkek, Jan.23, 2020. /Kabar/. At the press conference, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Chingiz Aidarbekov spoke about the results of President's visits abroad in 2019.
The foreign minister said last year the first country President visited was Germany.
“President Sooronbay Jeenbekov held talks with the country's leadership. These were effective negotiations. It was the first visit of the President to Bavaria, and the sides held a Business Forum, which resulted in signing of 17 agreements worth more than EUR 1 billion 900 million. We are working closely with the relevant state bodies, providing assistance to German companies that have entered or are planning to enter the Kyrgyz market.
For example, the Schmidt company entered the Kyrgyz market and opened a plant here to produce solar panels. The products are already being exported. In addition, the same corporation plans to implement several projects worth over $100 million. We are also working with other corporations that want to enter the Kyrgyz market. As part of the official visit, German delegation headed by Bavaria’s deputy prime minister, as well as representatives of the private sector, business are expected to arrive in Kyrgyzstan,” he said.
Chingiz Aidarbekov said in 2019 the Kyrgyz President also visited Switzerland.
"We have concluded an agreement on various areas. The Swiss side provides little assistance in irrigation, strengthening our capacity in agricultural production. The parties also reached an agreement on Swiss side’s assistance to Kyrgyz Finance Ministry in matters of budget regulation, automation of public debt servicing processes. This is a big step. We are grateful to Switzerland for the technical assistance that has been provided to us since 2015 on election issues," the minister said.
Chingiz Aidarbekov also noted President Jeenbekov’s visit to Azerbaijan last year, where a meeting of the Turkic Council was held.
In 2019 Kyrgyzstan chaired three major organizations: the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Collective Security Treaty Organization and Turkic Council.
"Kyrgyzstan’s chairmanship in the Turkic Council was effective. As an example, I can mention entering Uzbekistan as a full-fledged member. We have also jointly opened the branch of the Council in Hungary, and today we are actively working to further improve all structures," he said.
The foreign minister recalled that Sooronbay Jeenbekov held talks with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev.
"These talks were fruitful. Today we are actively working on them. This autumn, the President of Azerbaijan will pay an official visit to Kyrgyzstan," he added.
The foreign minister added that in 2019 the Kyrgyz President met with all leaders of the Central Asian region.
"Good results have been achieved in the direction of Tajikistan. Despite the events that took place at the border, the sides reacted quickly to all the events," he said.
Aidarbekov recalled Jeenbekov's meeting with Emomali Rahmon on the border area of the two countries.
Then, in 2019, the Kyrgyz leader took part in the enthronement of Japanese emperor. There he also held talks with the prime minister of the country of the rising sun.
"Good agreements were reached. An official visit of our president to Japan is being prepared," he added.
Last year, the head of state visited the UAE and Saudi Arabia, during which great attention was paid to economic diplomacy.
"The sides reached agreements. There is great interest in cooperation in production and processing of agricultural products, in tourism. The second airlines of Arab airlines were opened last year. This significantly reduced air ticket prices and increased the flow of tourists," he said.
FM Aidarbekov spoke about the recently opened new Visa Center, which operates on a unified window principle.
