Bishkek, Sept. 27, 2024. /Kabar/. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Jeenbek Kulubaev addressed the 23rd Annual Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Group of Landlocked Developing Countries.
Kulubaev noted the completion of the Vienna Program of Action for Landlocked Countries. He pointed out its achievements over the past ten years and emphasized the importance of the forthcoming adoption of a new Program of Action for 2024-2034, with a focus on achieving sustainable development goals through the promotion of international trade, improvement of transit transport, development of entrepreneurship and infrastructure. In this context, it was noted that Kyrgyzstan attaches special importance to projects such as the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railroad, which is of strategic importance to bring the republic to international trade routes.
Attention was also focused on the need for an integrated approach to environmental challenges, emphasizing the implementation of the decisions of the recent UN Climate Change Conferences (COP27 and COP28) and promotion of Kyrgyzstan's initiative on “Mountains and Climate” at the upcoming COP29 conference.
In conclusion, the Kyrgyz minister emphasized the importance of further interaction and partnership in adopting and implementing the new Program of Action for Landlocked Countries for 2024-2034.
