FM Kulubaev attends 19th CA-EU Ministerial Meeting in Luxembourg

Bishkek, Oct. 24, 2023 . / Kabar / . Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Jeenbek Kulubaev took part in the 19th Central Asia-European Union Ministerial Meeting in Luxembourg.

The meeting was chaired by European Union (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell and Commissioner for International Partnership Jutta Urpilainen.

The meeting was also attended by foreign ministers of Central Asia and the European Union. This is the first time this event has been held in such an expanded 5+27 format.

In the framework of the Ministerial Meeting, the CA-EU Foreign Ministers adopted a Joint Roadmap for deepening CA-EU ties. This Roadmap is based on discussions between leaders from both regions and aims to promote dialogue and practical cooperation in selected five key areas to improve overall EU-Central Asia relations.

Following the meeting, foreign ministers of Central Asia and the EU member states adopted a Joint Communiqué, in which the EU and the five Central Asian countries reaffirmed their joint commitment to continue the strategic partnership and their readiness to further strengthen the partnership based on shared values and mutual interests, as exemplified by the meetings of heads of state of Central Asia and President of the European Council in Astana in 2022 and in Cholpon-Ata in 2023.

At the meeting in Luxembourg, Jeenbek Kulubaev detailed the priorities of cooperation in strengthening political dialogue, trade and economic, investment and transport interconnectivity, security in the region and the world.

The Kyrgyz minister emphasized the need to assist in removing domestic airlines from the so-called aviation "black" list and added that Kyrgyz aviation has successfully passed the ICAO audit. He also noted the importance of easing the visa regime for citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic, especially for students. Separately, he dwelled on the problems of idle trucks on the border of the Baltic States and asked for assistance in resolving the situation that negatively affects trade and economic relations.
