FMs of Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan hold telephone conversation

Bishkek, May 4, 2021. / Kabar /. At the initiative of the Turkmen side, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Ruslan Kazakbaev held a telephone conversation with Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Meredov expressed deep condolences to the relatives and friends of the killed citizens of Kyrgyzstan as a result of the armed conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border.

In turn, Kazakbaev thanked his Turkmen colleague for his attention and empathy and informed the interlocutor about the events of April 28-30, 2021 and the current situation in Batken Oblast of Kazakhstan.

Kazakbaev and Meredov were unanimous in the opinion that the conflict situation that had arisen, which led to numerous casualties and wounded on both sides, should be resolved exclusively through political and diplomatic negotiations.

Meredov noted that the Turkmen side, being a reliable strategic partner of the Kyrgyz side, is closely monitoring the situation in the border area of ​​Kyrgyzstan, and in this vein he welcomed the ongoing efforts of the Kyrgyz side to resolve the incident on the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border.

The heads of the foreign affairs agencies of Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan exchanged views on the state and prospects of Kyrgyz-Turkmen bilateral relations and paid special attention to the preparation of upcoming bilateral and multilateral events at the highest and high levels.

The sides agreed to organize meetings in the near future within the framework of upcoming foreign policy events.
