Tashkent, Feb. 18, 2021. / Kabar /. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow received Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov, who arrived in Ashgabat for a working visit, the press service of the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said Thursday.
The meeting focused on the prospects of development of multilateral cooperation in Central Asia and implementation of infrastructure and transport and communications projects to access new regional markets.
On the same day, Foreign Ministers of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov and Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov signed a program of cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries for 2021-2022 following political consultations in Ashgabat.
The commitment of the two countries to the development of trade relations, the use of transport and transit opportunities in the region to promote economic integration, the organization of joint activities for the current year, including the preservation and popularization of the historical and cultural heritage of the two countries take a special place in the document.
Kamilov invited the Turkmen side to the high-level international conference "Central and South Asia: Regional Interconnectedness. Challenges and Opportunities" to be held in Tashkent this year.
The Uzbek foreign minister will also pay a working visit to Kazakhstan and Tajikistan.
