Bishkek, Dec. 2, 2024. /Kabar/. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Jeenbek Kulubaev met with Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Minister of Foreign Affairs of China Wang Yi.
The meeting took place in China’s Chengdu within the framework of participation in the 5th China-Central Asia Foreign Ministers' Meeting.
During the meeting, stressing the notable intensification of cooperation between the two countries in recent years, the two ministers paid special attention to the need for further development of cooperation in trade and economic sphere.
In particular, the need for practical implementation of joint investment projects in agriculture, energy, processing industry, transport, banking sector, as well as optimization of the work of the Irkeshtam and Torugart checkpoints was emphasized.
Jeenbek Kulubaev and Wang Yi emphasized the importance of starting the construction phase of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railroad, which will become an important link of the One Belt, One Road initiative. In this context, the parties noted the successful opening of the new Bedel checkpoint this year.
The Kyrgyz foreign minister emphasized the significant increase in the volume of exports of Kyrgyz products to China in 2024 and outlined the importance of further increasing it.
In addition, during the meeting he noted the importance of creating favorable conditions for mutual travel of citizens between the two countries.
The sides also exchanged views on cooperation within the UN, the SCO and interaction within the framework of the One Belt, One Road initiative, as well as important issues of regional and global agendas.
