Bishkek, May 3, 2018. / Kabar /. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Erlan Abdyldaev met in Dushanbe with UN Deputy Secretary-General and head of the UN Office for Combating Terrorism Vladimir Voronkov within the framework of participation in the International Conference "Counteraction to Terrorism and Prevention of Violent Extremism".
The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported that Abdyldaev also met with Executive Director of the Executive Directorate of the Counter-Terrorism Committee of the UN Security Council Michelle Koninx, and with Special Representative of the UN Secretary General, head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) Natalia German.
The main purpose of the meeting with the heads of the UN Counter-Terrorism Directorate, the UNSC of the UN Security Council and the UNRCCA was to discuss topical issues on the international security agenda, the fight against terrorism and extremism.
In particular, during the meeting, the Kyrgyz Foreign Minister confirmed Kyrgyzstan's support for UN programs in countering extremism and terrorism, and noted the interest of the Kyrgyz Republic in intensifying cooperation with the United Nations on attracting international expert and financial and technical assistance for the implementation of the Kyrgyz Republic's Program for Countering Extremism and terrorism for 2017-2022.
In addition, issues related to the implementation of the third phase of the project under the Joint Action Plan of the countries of Central Asia on the successful implementation of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy aimed at assisting CA countries in adequately responding to emerging problems of combating terrorism, as well as implementation of the relevant resolutions on the fight against terrorism of the UN Security Council were considered.
