Bishkek, March 12, 2022. / Kabar /. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Ruslan Kazakbaev met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov on March 11, 2022, on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum, the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry reported.
The sides discussed the current situation in Ukraine. Ruslan Kazakbaev noted the importance of further avoiding casualties among the military and civilians, emphasizing the need to find new formats and mechanisms for negotiations for the participants in the process of resolving this conflict.
In particular, Minister Kazakbaev noted that the Kyrgyz Republic supports the start of the negotiation process between Russia and Ukraine on a peaceful settlement of the conflict, and is interested in the speedy achievement of mutually acceptable solutions that contribute, first of all, to a ceasefire and a way out of the crisis. Kazakbaev emphasized that any conflict must be resolved exclusively by political and diplomatic means, including by creating new formats and mechanisms if the existing ones have stopped working.
He said that the Kyrgyz side supports any mediation efforts in this direction, and, if necessary, expresses its readiness to assist in establishing peace and mutual understanding. At the same time, he noted the positive experience of Bishkek in mediation missions.
The heads of the foreign ministries discussed the state of bilateral relations and plans for their further intensification in line with the agreements of the heads of the two states following the meeting on the sidelines of the 8th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTG) in Istanbul on November 12, 2021.
The interlocutors agreed to maintain a high level of Kyrgyz-Azerbaijani relations by organizing inter-MFA political consultations, a meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Bilateral Cooperation and expanding the legal framework between Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan.
